Horror Story Train Delays
Sometimes we become so used to the usual paper thin stories we are told are the cause of our train delays that when something drastic happens, it is as if it jumped right out of a horror story and invited itself into our lives.
On the 10th October 2016, commuters faced drastic and major delays after services between Essex and London were halted due to a person being struck by a train. The emergency incident occurred been Stratford and Romford and caused major disruptions on the Greater Anglia Mainline. The British Transport Police have confirmed to sources that they were called to the scene at 1.20pm after reports of an individual being hit by a train surfaced.
Despite the best efforts of officers and medics, the person unfortunately died at the scene. The police are now working to identify the person and their next of kin.
Due to the incident, trains were unable to run between London Liverpool Street and Essex, affecting several routes. At 2pm, an announcement from the train line operator said that some trains were able to travel through the area. Following this, a second announcement shortly before 6pm said that commuters should expect delays up until 10pm which meant the delays were set to last for 8 hours in total, with individual services suffering for up to 60 minutes.
Due to the nature of the incident, many people were considerate regarding the delays. A select few, however, were more concerned about how their journey home would be affected. Here at Trains from Hell, we would like to say sorry to the family members and wish them well during this trying time.
